firstly i would check the filename, make sure it isnt too long or has any "illegal" characters in it. i would rename each file to "Futurama Season 2 Episode X" or something similar. failing that, i would recommend using a proper FTP proggy, Ultra FXP and Flash FXP are my preferred choices

i have file names longer than the ones im trying to put on the xbox and also none of the stuff im putting on is illegal i think at least.....
and FlashFXP or whatever u say i tryed in the past it never would connect....

i ment "illegal" in the sense of not allowed- ie the following characters " ' * $#@!?>< and things like that. i still recommend trying another FTP program, and i assume you use "192.168.1.xx" as the IP, and "xbox" "xbox" as the username/password??

how much space is left in the xbox?

Corey4666

ok then i dont think there is illegal characters in the file name
and i know i have at least 150 gigabytes of space left im not to sure i cant check at the moment
i guess i will try the ftp program u recomended and i post back here if it works or not

have you tried uploading the files individually into a directory rather then the whole folder?

that is the most unusual thing i have ever heard of.... perhaps unchecking the file so its no read-only or archive etc...

solution

i just had the same problem, and to solve it, i shortened the file name significantly and it worked

instead of
Futurama - S02E01 - A Flight To Remember [dd].avi

try
0201- A Flight To Remember

or something similar

Just for some reasoning. Internet Explorer likes to abuse the FTP protocol and connect too many times. Because the XBOX only accepts 1 connection at a time it will just keep asking for a password even though the real reason is that there are too many connections.

FileZilla also likes to connect more than once. To remedy this goto:

Edit - Settings

Then on the left choose "File Transfer Settings" and on the right side untick the box "Use multiple connections to transfer files"

Also on FlashFXP if the file name is too long right click it in the transfer box and its either properties or target or something (From memory) and then click remote and you can change the name in there.

Hope that helps.

he already fixed the problem, and it was the xbox's FatX harddrive format that was the problem- ie filename longer then 42 char
