Hi, I have my friend's backup CD for PSX games, but when i load it with with ePSXe it displays japanese! And i open the CD directory, and found there is a .sub file (subtitle file), and i was wondering how could i apply the file to the emulator so it would display the game in english. Help please.

I think that .sub file have nothing to do with subtitle file. If that game it's in Japanese, unless it's a multi-lang game (and I have not seen any PSX Japanese multi lang game), you can't do too much.

Are talking about a real burned CD or an image?

If it's an image, it should be a Clone Cd one:
the .img it's the image itself (actually a .bin), the .ccd have info about the CD image, tracks, etc, and the .sub file it's subchannel CD data. The .sub It's not very usefull if it's not make from an original pressed CD. Perhaps might be a .cue file too, which almost equivalent to the .ccd file, it's created for compatibility with many burning programs.

If you're talking of a burnt CD content, I have no idea :p

well, i am not sure if it's a clone CD (no idea what it is) or a burnt CD, but if it is a clone CD, then how do I use the .sub file?

Clone CD it's a CD image burner & duplicator program. The file it creates are what I told before.

Well, I suppose it's a backup (burnt CD) if you can play it directly with ePSXe (correct me if not). Can you tell me the contents of the main directory of your CD?

Anyway the .sub file have nothing to do (I repeat) with any translation.

I truly believe that is what ffkol tried to say at start. *.sub file found in the cd content (you can explore the CD if you are not sure what I meant) or other files which is meant to be used by the application/software but the truth is not. The files mostly used for other uses by the developers for PSX and not for PC.

Again, that is not the subtitle file.

Oh, i see, so the .sub file has nothing to do with game play...
well thanks a lot. Guess I will start using a dictionary then.
