i was trying to play metal gear solid last night. the game loads fine and all but the problem is that the action in the opening video and the game are choppy. they move fine for a couple of seconds, pause in place, and then repeat. i tried using all the graphics plugins i have (i went through like 15 of them). as for my other plugins for spu i use the newest version of petes. for cd i have one simply called cd-rom reader (it sounds weird but it has worked pefectly since i got it). i was thinking it was probably graphics but i dont know for sure.

gfx plugins i used:

petes open gl
petes open gl2
petes d3d
petes 6d3d

(names may not be completly accurate b/c im not on my computer and cant look them up)

Looks a sound problem to me. Give a try to Peops or Eternal SPU IRQ hack, also ePSXe internal SPU.
Btw you might like better PeoPs CDr plugin, just try the autodetect option and Thread or Async reads. If it doesn't help you, I'd try to play from an ISO, either loaded or emulated through Daemon Tools. Enjoy :)

Please notice that probably it's enough with the ePSXe default SPU plugin, or anything, but with the SPU IRQ hack option checked ;)

CDr plugins are useless when loading ISOs, you only need to care about it for load real or emulated CDs

Speaking of that problem, I believe there is an option where you have to click on the MGS fix in Eternal SPU plugin and similar things on Pete's GPU as well.

Well, I still strongly prefer second option (Using Daemon Tools or any similar softwares) as there is some problem running with image files using that emulator.
