1. How do you configure a joystick for mameplus? I know you can press tab while your in a game to cange contrils but when I press anything on my controller nothing registers. I can use this same controller flawlessly on other emulators like winkawaks, neorage and zinc.
2. How do you make Tekken 3 work on zinc 1.02? When I go to play it, it stays at this screen that said "Initaializing and has some other writing on the screen but I dont know what it means. I can get games liek tekken 2, street fighter ex 2 plus etc to work.
Thanks!

1. While running Mame32plus, select menu "Options" -> "Default Game Options" -> "Controllers" tab -> Check "Enable Joystick input", then select your joystick "ID" for P1, P2 an so on. If you''re talking about Mameplus (command line), open "mame.ini -> go to section: "### Input device options ###" then on line "joystick 0", replace the "0" for "1"
2. The latest version of Zinc it's 1.1 (January 25, 2005), so the issue might be already fixed (I think it's has nothing to do, but its' better to update :p ). Please note that some romsets have changed since 1.0.2, so some games might not work. You'd need to download the new sets for this version. If still don't work, would be helpful to post that screen here :)

No problem, just post your feedback here (message Zinc tells, or a screen shot of that) and we'll see what we can do ;)

Ok, well I tried to rebuild the rom and it still did the same thing.
heres what it does when you load it: Btw when I choose to loada game it reads the game as Tekken 3(JP) Ver. A

Looks like you're in service or test mode, the question it's why. Please take a look at this:
1 - Start player 1
2 - Start player 2
4 - Test switch (enters test mode in most games)
5 - Coin player 1
6 - Coin player 2
7 - Service switch
I'd stick with Service & Test Switches keys and see what happens. I will try to move on this menu, I think you canm exit manually with the standard keys. I'll post more info tomorrow when I can test Tekken 3 on Zinc by myself. :)

Hmm that would make a lot of sense. But I tried pressing 7 to no avail. I tried pressing all the buttons on the keyboard and nothing moves. I use a controller btw. hmm..

I'd install Zinc form scratch in a new folder, set up the roms dir and try again. I haven't been able to recreate the situation you show in your screen shot. Btw, thta keys might be <F2> and <F3> , because you might using an input plugin via frontend or something.
Good luck :)

Btw, which Windows version are using?
And which DirectX (www.microsoft.com/directx)? (Start->Run->type "dxdiag")
Also, try updating your gfx card drivers.
And yes, you might be luckier with OGL :)
wow! I think it's the 3rd time I post the same :p

OpenGL didn't work, in dxdiag?
which Gfx card you have? Maybe it's an old drv problem. I'd try another frontend, there're a lot

Oh my fault. I mean, I can play in Opengl but it didnt solve the problem. What size is your Tekken 3 rom? I dont neccesarily think its a video card problem. I can play rival schools and street fight ex 2 + at 60 fps with sound and slow geometry on

Ok, looks like either the roms or the config it's the problem. Try to use another frontend and/or start everything from scratch, perpahps a bad config file it's the problem.
As I told before, Mame & Zinc share the same roms since some time ago. Size it's not the most important, you should care most about the crc. To check it I'd download any new mame (0.95u2 it's the last ver., but 0.95 will do) and either from the command line or in a batch file (.bat) I'd type:
mame tekken3 -verifyroms > tekken3.txt
Please don't forget to include the tekken3 set in the Mame's rom path. Now open the tekken.txt and you can read if your tekken3 set it's ok or not. Anyway, you can post the results here if reports something is missing, but you'd need to get a newer romset. Well, to ask you, these are the required roms for a clean tekken3 set:
mame tekken3 -listroms > tekken3.txt
This is the list of the ROMs required for driver "tekken3".

Don't care about the SHA1, it's another kind of verify integrity, deeper than crc32, as you might know. Hope it helps :)

Ok. Just open Notepad, then copy&paste or type this:
mame -createconfig
save the file as mame.bat, and make sure the extension it's .bat, not .txt. Then run the batch (double click, or intro). It will create a mame.ini . Open it, at put your rompath where it reads rom= or something (I'm trying to remember, I'm not at home now). Once you done, proceed the same with the command I told in my previous htread, creating a .bat file, etc. The resulting tekken3.txt would told if your romset it's good or not. Paste it here if you like. Good luck :)

When I double click the mame.bat it just keeps running and I dont see a mame.ini anywhere.
weird.

April 15th, 2005, 07:57
Take a look at your mame.exe name. It's mame.exe or mamepp.exe, for example? Rename it in bat file acordly. The generated ini should have the same as mame, so if it's mamepp.exe, it would be mamepp.ini

On a side note, I was able to get tekken 3 to work. It doesnt want to work if I turn the sound off or if I turn on slow geometry. I use ZinFE btw. But when I try to play tekken...it wont work it never responds when i press the coin button.

April 15th, 2005, 14:02
Turn on the sound and turn off the Slow Geometry would be the best. Click on the Slow Geometry option would slow the game down.
ZinFE? So, do you have ZinC btw? If not try to get the latest version of it. ZinFE is a frontend for ZinC. Then, try to test it by loading the game.
One important thing, in ZinC file, there should be a d3d_renderer.znc or ogl_renderer.znc in it. If not included, then try to get it from HERE (http://www.emuhype.com/index.phtml?s=zinc&ss=files). (Get ZiNc OpenGL and D3D renderers 1.2.1)
If it failed to load the game, that probably some files were missing in that zip. Try to check the filename and CRC given in previous posts is all are available in that zip.
If any problem occured, you can ask again. :)

Yea im using the latest version of Zinc with the FE frontend. I also have a ogl plugin in the zinc directory. I will do that rom check that hagbard did.
