Formatting Mario Sunshine Save

So I just started playing Super Mario Sunshine on the Dolphin emulator, but when i get to the menu with the ABC blocks, it asks if I want to format the hard drive in order to save. I know that formatting stuff usually deletes everything on it, and the game does say that it will delete everything: does this mean it'll delete everything on my hard drive?

emulator runs psychically it have no acces physically to hardware only emulating it formating hard drive in dolphin will format "psychically " memory to make new save
on console physically but on pc psychically.
