I'm utterly new to emulation, mid 40s and not particularly technical but not a total idiot either. Ideally I'm looking to learn and play games from my youth (early 80s to early 2000s).

A friend had suggested purchasing a Raspberry Pi but another said I need at least an Nividia Shield - if I'm interested in GC, Dreamcast or PS 1 and 2 games - which I am.

Any advice would be welcome, including suggestions of the possibility of buying a platform already moded and filled with favourite games (I'm in the UK).
