Nestopia hangs after 30-60 seconds of gameplay

This happens on any rom I try. Basically after 30-60 seconds of the emulator running, the video will simply freeze yet the audio keeps playing. The controls still work and I can hear the game being played, yet the video is completely frozen.

I'm not sure where to begin figuring this issue out.
