View Full Version : Rendering more on screen with SNES/NES emulators

Hi emulator-forums.
Ive had an idea in my head for a while but I have not posted here as I have been unsure how to word it.
I love that some emulators (usually playstation and dreamcast) may have games that display in 4:3 but if you have say a 16:10 screen will render extra geometry that you would not normally see outside the sides of the screen to avoid resizing.
What I want to do is to set up an emulator; preferably a snes or an nes to render outside the normal given field of view.

What I mean by this is lets say you for whatever reason have a 300x300px monitor.
And lets say out theoretical game runs at a resolution of 200x200px

Is there a way to get the game to render whats above below behind and in front of the camera's field of view?
I am not farmilliar with the nes/snes rendering process and the odds its most likley impossible without modifying them rom but I can dream can't I?
Thank you for your time and its great to finally be on an emulation forum. ;)
