Hi. Im just getting into psx emulation and ive been encountering some problems. i have the latest versions of epsxe and psxeven. I've been trying to play xenogears, which i downloaded as an .mdf file and burnt, FFVII which a friend burnt for me, and Legend of Dragoon which i have an original copy of.
Whenever I try to use any or these CDs with either emulator the game will not load. I've tried the mooby2 cd disk image driver and Xeven's cdr driver on both emulators. When I try the mooby2 plugin on psxeven my emulator displays a black screen till i hit esc twice and exit, whereas Xeven's plugin displays the PSX startup screens and then halts, giving the error message "cannot locate psx executable". When i tried the mooby 2 plugin in epsxe, my system halts and i have to kill the power. I'm totally at a loss here!! Does anyone know what im doing wrong? :(

System Specs are :
(laptop)
1.7ghz pentium M w/2MB l2 cache. (equivilent to at least 2.0ghz on a regular pentium)
ATI Radeon 9700, 128mb Video RAM
1024mb RAM
DVD+/-RW drive

i agree with montpics on the bios first of all, then ff7 & LOD you need to use the older epsxe emulator, epsxe 1.5.2, not the new version 1.6.0, try that, then are you runnin the games directly from your cd-rom or are you runnin from a .mfd file, if this is the case reformat the .mdf file to either a .img or .bin file using programs such as BlindWrite 4.9.5.2.......

thanks, ill try using the older version of epsxe. also i have been trying to run the games from .bin files, .iso files, and cds burnt from both file formats. And yes i have the bios "scph1001".

Okay, we'll wait for your next progress. :)

(Funny, both games run fine with ePSXe v1.6.0 on my PC.....)

Me too, I don't see the problem with that...

well, the biggest game thats for psx that can only be played for epsxe 1.5.2, not the 1.6.0 is crono cross, it freezes when you try to use a element in battle, there are some other too!!

I agree, but some plugins still sucks. Sigh, off topic. I'll create a new one to discuss this :)
