Here are my specs:

SYSTEM:
AMD Athlon 1.2 GHz, 256 MB Ram
Windows XP
SOUND
Soundblaster Live
VIDEO
NVIDIA GeForce MX 440 with AGP&X
DRIVES
Sony DVD/RW
Imation R/W

I downloaded
ePSXe 1.6.0
ePSXeCutor 1.0.6.3
Delta 1.67 Beta

I configured the ePSXe with the following...

Bios: scph1001
Video: Pete's Open GL 1.75 (Info below...)
Sound: ePSXe SPU core 1.5.2 (No config changes)
CDrom: ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 1.5.2

When I go to load/play a game, I put the disk in my Sony DVD and it goes to a blank screen... and then... nothing... no sound... no game... nothing.

I'm at wits end.

Have you tried ePSXe 1.5.2? It's more stable than 1.6.0.

Maybe it has to do with the "Warning: cdrom read mode unknown" thingy

I doubt it's CDR plugin's problem. Try to use other plugins for likes of Sapu CDR plugin. :)

There's nothing you can do at the moment... pcsx2 plays at low speed so don't expect to run it at full speed now.

is there no other emulator? that should do it?

That won't help, I said you can't do anything about. You have either to buy a PS2 or wait...

Try Sapu's CD-ROM plugin and let it autodetect. I can't guarantee that'll fix it, but it solved my Valkyrie Profile problem.

floyd, you're probably using WinXP so it a must that you don't have an ASPI layer installed. Go to www.adaptec.com and download the ASPI files, install them and restart the system. When you configure ePSXe don't use any other plugin except the ePSXe's internal (native) ASPI CDROM drive plugin.

The blank screen can also be a result of a false BIOS. Try changing that as well.
