mame cheats where do the files go?

I got some file with cheats for mame but dont know where they go and how to set it.Help! :confused:

I'm sure you saw the answer on the other forum... but just in case,
put the cheat.dat in the same folder as your mame program. (eg C:\MAME)
Then, find the cheat option in the menus and turn it on.
Then run a game, press tab, and select the cheat item in the menu.
