Wind waker Dolphin emulator help

I started playing wind waker on the emulator and i got to the mirror shield. to get out of the room i had to shine light on the symbol above the door. Every time that i tried to point the light on the symbol the shield moved too drastically I really want to finish the game so can anybody help.

I think you just need to set your dead zones and possibly do a windows calibration on the controller.

deadzones: these are the red circles in dolphins controller set up. If you stick is jumping around make sure it does not jump out of the red. You can move the slider to change the circle size. Make the circle as small as possible without the plus sign jumping out.

Windows calibration is under the control panel. I need your OS to tell you the steps.
