Hello, All!
I am releasing MasterGear-Android 2.9.3 today, a new version of my Sega MasterSystem and GameGear emulator:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.mg
The new version has got the slow-motion mode (combined with the fast-forward mode in the Settings) and a variety of fixes. More importantly, I have started adding workarounds for external SD card restrictions imposed by Android KitKat. If you are a KitKat user, the new MasterGear will let you keep your games on the external SD card, saving your gameplay states to /sdcard/MasterGear folder or the app-specific SD card folder, as KitKat prohibits third-party apps from writing arbitrary SD card folders. No, I do not know why Google made this restriction. I guess their Nexus devices simply do not have SD cards, so they never tested.
ALL CHANGES:
* Added slow-motion mode, combined with fast-forward mode.
* Fixed multitouch input in cases when it didn't work.
* Made a work-around for external SD card use on KitKat!
* If can't write to external SD card, saving states to /storage/sdcard0/MasterGear.
* If MasterGear folder doesn't exist, saving states to /storage/sdcard1/Android/data/com.fms.mg/files.
* Fixed fast-forwarding in automatic frame rate mode.
* Fixed a crash in Cheatopedia, when displaying the list.
* Fixed rare crashes in gesture detection.

Hello, All!
I have published MasterGear-Android 3.4.1 this morning:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.mg
The new release adds support for custom virtual joystick skins. To create your own joystick skin, download the template from the web site, edit it, and place it into /sdcard/MasterGear/Controls.png. After that, select "Custom Skin" option in the Layout Editor to see your skin.
I have also made the action bar optional on devices that have a MENU button (and thus do not need the action bar icons). Since many people complained that they cannot find the Cheatopedia or Freeze/Restore options, these options are back in the menu. You can move them to the action bar by checking the "General | Enable Action Bar" option.
ALL CHANGES:
* Added joystick skins, place your own skin into /sdcard/MasterGear/Controls.png.
* Added "Input | Layout Editor | Shape | Custom Skin" option for choosing your skin.
* Sample joystick skin image available at http://fms.komkon.org/EmuAndroid/#Skin.
* Made action bar optional on devices with MENU button (off by default).
* Added "General | Enable Action Bar" option for devices with MENU button.
* Added exception for LG Optimus Zone 2 (does not show submenus).

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.mg
This release beautifies the background image, making sure it attaches to the MasterSystem display with no gaps. If you are storing games on an external SD card, and Android prevents apps from writing to it, MasterGear will save your game states to /sdcard/MasterGear.
ALL CHANGES:
* Added new background image, removing the gap.
* Now automatically creating /sdcard/MasterGear if missing.
* When MasterGear cannot write SD card, it will save to /sdcard/MasterGear.

This release adds support for the SMS2 console (aka Mark IV Jr) and its extended screen modes. GameGear compatibility improved as well, since some GameGear games use the same extended screen modes. I have also enabled EEPROM emulation in two more GameGear titles and fixed sprites in Madou Monogatari 2. Finally, by public request, MasterGear will no longer ask for the READ_PHONE_STATE permission, previously used to obtain the IMEI. I have now switched from IMEI to AndroidID, in case you need help and I have to identify your device in the logs. See below for all the changes.
ALL CHANGES:
* Added "Emulation | Model | MasterSystem 2" options.
* MasterSystem 2 is now the default hardware model.
* Implemented proper 224/240-line screen modes.
* Fixed Linus Spacehead (GG) flicker and offset screen.
* Fixed StarTrek Next Generation (GG) offset screen.
* Fixed Micro Machines (SMS/GG) scrolling problems.
* Fixed Madou Monogatari 2 (GG) by setting VDP[6]=0xFF on reset.
* Fixed missing "TM" letters in many title screens.
* Fixed World Series Baseball '95 (GG) hangup due to missing EEPROM.
* Fixed World Series Baseball (GG) hangup due to missing EEPROM.
* No longer asking for READ_PHONE_STATE permission.
* Application will use AndroidID rather than IMEI to identify users.
* When emailing for support, attach your AndroidID (dial "*#*#8255#*#*").
Enjoy!

Hello, All!
The new MasterGear 4.0.3 for Android is now online:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.mg
This release fixes a bug where the File Selector would get stuck on unreadable folders, not letting the user switch away from them. This version will not let you go into unreadable folders. If you need to quickly jump between folders (such as internal and external storage), use the new "Change Folder" option in the File Selector. See below for all the changes.
ALL CHANGES:
* Added "Change Folder" option to the File Selector for jumping between folders.
* Fixed File Selector getting stuck at unreadable folders.
* Made folder listing error a bit less threatening, since it has become the new normal in Android 7+.

Hello, All!
MasterGear 4.1 for Android is now online:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.mg
This release majorly improves automatic hardware and language detection and adds correct video timings for both NTSC and PAL modes. I have also did some work on the Joystick Layout Editor, fixing a bunch of bugs and making display rectangle freely resizable in both dimensions. Do keep in mind though that since the console screen has a certain ratio, it may not necessarily fill the rectangle you choose. The screen will always "stick" to the top of the rectangle. See below for all the changes.
ALL CHANGES:
* Console model and other hardware options will now be saved.
* Greatly improved automatic hardware and language detection.
* Fixed video timings for both NTSC and PAL modes.
* Fixed scanline length to 228 CPU clocks.
* Fixed NTSC/PAL screen length to 262/313 scanlines.
* Fixed music speed in Sonic Chaos (GG).
* Greatly improved the Layout Editor, fixing many bugs.
* Layout Editor now lets you resize screen in both dimensions.
* Screen rectangle will stay centered while resizing.
* Buttons gravity will be restored when resetting layout.
* Made states/screenshots deletion more reliable.
* Fixed hangup on exit where Java code waits for non-existent native thread.
* Removed outdated features from the EMULib code.

The new MasterGear fixes SMS display timings (PAL and NTSC) and sets scanline length to 228 CPU clocks. The Windows version adds support for multiple monitors, improves the best full-screen mode detection, and removes flicker that appeared after the recent Win10 updates. I have also fixed DirectInput support and made directional pads on Xbox gamepads work. The Linux version now uses PulseAudio for sound, so you will not need to mess with the OSS sound emulation. * Fixed scanline length to 228 CPU clocks.
* Made NTSC screen length to be exactly 262 scanlines.

See below for the complete list of changes in the Android version.
ALL CHANGES:
* Released free MasterGear 4.1 for Windows and Linux.

Please, explain what exactly you do, step by step, and what happens. The Windows version of MasterGear is a generic Win32 application, so it cannot interfere with your system bootup process. So, either something else is to blame, or you mean something else, not the boot.

I've published MasterGear 4.5.2 for Android, a new release of my Sega MasterSystem, GameGear, and SG-1000 emulator:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.mg
The new release adds native support for 64bit ARM CPUs and fixes several bugs. Starting with this release, you can place Cheatopedia files into any subfolder of /sdcard/MasterGear. That should hopefully help people unable to move unzipped files around. Finally, swiping your finger sideways along the top or bottom screen edge will reveal the action bar. This new gesture is added to avoid clashing with the vertical swipe that reveals navigation bars in new Androids. See below for all the changes.
ALL CHANGES:
* Now able to show action bar with horizontal flings at screen top/bottom.
* Now searching for ROOT.chts in /sdcard/MasterGear and all its subfolders.
* Enabled native build for 64bit ARMv8 CPUs.
* Fixed saved state compatibility between 32bit and 64bit architectures.
* Fixed native OpenSLES sound on newer Androids.
* Fixed a possible crash in Java code.
* Fixed toolbar application links.

Hello, All!
I've just published MasterGear 4.7.1 for Android, a new version of my Sega MasterSystem, GameGear, and SG-1000 emulator:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fms.mg -- at Google Play
https://fms.komkon.org/EmuAndroid/ -- homepage
Starting this November, Google no longer allows Android apps to access files on Android10+ devices, outside app's sandbox. All storage access is now supposed to be done via something called "Storage Access Framework".
I had to make major changes to MasterGear in order to comply with the new regulations. If you have a newer Android10+, you will see the list of storage volumes in the File Selector. Once you click on a volume, the app may ask you for permission to access it. Otherwise, things should work the same as before. If you find any new problems with the app though, please, report them to the support group or email me directly. See below for all the changes.
ALL CHANGES:
* Refactored app to comply with Google's latest ban on file I/O.
* On Android 10+, all file access is now done via content providers.
* Content is copied to a temporary folder for use, changes moved back on exit.
* You may have to give app separate permission to read each storage location.
