FLASH 256kb sanyo vs st?

Hey I was wondering which of these savetypes is preferable? There's two 256kb options. I tried searching this forum but didn't find much on this particular issue, thus I ask instead. Game in question is Megaman Battle Network 5 Double Team DS. no$ba can autodetect savetype, but some games are exempt (I dunno which). However I would like to hear more about these two savetypes, not just as they apply to this particular game. What are they even? Sanyo at least seems to be some kind of flashcard format / type... also, what are the disadvantages and advantages of each?

I'm thinking the two different savetypes relate to those companies in the links above? Since ST is EU and Sanyo japanese maybe it will work with the japanese version of the game? Provided that there are actual hardware differences beween european and japanese DSes that is (i.e. EU ones using ST flashcards for saves, japanese using Sanyo). I dunno how US DS would fit into this, or if I'm even at the right track to begin with...

Misc q1: Will no$gba ever get an update in the forseeable future?
Misc q2: If not should I really move onto another emu like iDeaS or NeonDS?
