I'm trying to play pokemon ruby on the visual boy advance emulator, at first it says battery loaded and then it says that the internal battery has run dry and that clock based events wont happen. Is there a way it can use my computer's clock or any other way to fix this? thank you

ALSO, i just downloaded a NO$gba emulator and the clock works, but i'd rather play it on the VBA! Please let me know thanks!

Options > Emulation > Save Type > Check "Flash 128K"
I did this in VBA RR, but I think the settings look the same in VBA 1.8.0.

I had this problem with VBA. I remembered back to when I had Pokemon Crystal, and they were telling me about the Battery [Circle-shaped] that's in the actual Cartridge.
So I changed the Save Type which I saw while playing with the settings...and I understand why you would play on VBA [To avoid the fog], but NO$GBA could link GBA to GBA.
