Hi!

This is my first post, and I'm new to this software, so here goes: I'm having trouble using GoodWindows v2.4 with GoodN64 v3.14 (perhaps these two versions aren't compatible?). I know how frustrating it can be when people don't speak clearly in their questions, so I'll try to be clear by taking you step-by-step with my problem. By the way I also used the GoodWindows and GoodN64 Tutorial v1.1 and followed that step-by-step, but that didn't help. Here we go:

1. I open up GoodWindows.
2. I click Good Tool.
3. I choose Nintendo 64 from the Choose a System drop-down menu.
4. I locate GoodN64 and open it.
5. I click generate. And he is the problem: Cannot open file C:\Documents and Settings\Darren\My Documents\New Folder\bin\N64Miss.txt

It might be obvious to those reading this post, but to me I have no clue. I don't see a file called N64Miss.txt and when I downloaded GoodWindows v2.4 and GoodN64 v3.14 again (but from another site) I still got the same files. Where is this N64Miss.txt file? Can someone please help? Also, if I didn't give enough information feel free to ask and I'll get back to you. If your reply could take me step-by-step of what to do that'll be great. Thanks!

Darren

PS If I (rename?) my ROMs after its been verified, will my EEP files be associated with the renamed ROMs, or will I lose all my saved data from the games?

I dont know that this will help but the miss files are made from running the good tools. For example if you were to run gooodn64.exe on your roms it would make 3 files.
miss
have
and I forget the other atm.
I would have guessed goodwindows is just a front end to the good tools, so it should not need that file it should create it?

ASAIK, the saves dont get renamed.

You may just want to make life easier and forget the goodwindows stuff. Just put all your roms is a folder, put the goodn64.exe in there ( just as it comes with its files ) and do a "goodn64 rename *.*" ( it may do the saves I dont know ). It may take some time to complete. Then you will have your roms sorted and have that miss file.

Hi,

Thanks for responding. I don't know how to use GoodN64 which is why I need GoodWindows (which is supposed to make it easier), so I can't do what you've suggested. I've figured out though that if you don't click 'generate' and just click execute, it renames them anyway, so you don't need the miss file (I think). All my files now end with an exclamation mark, so this means they're all good right? I later manually renamed them back to what they were so they look nice and pretty.

My concern now is that maybe it didn't scan the files properly (since I didn't click generate or whatever steps I may have missed).

Also, is the files in the bin folder only need to compress ROMs? If so I'll delete them.

Thanks.
