I currently have a ePSXe emulator 1.7.0 and a PS3 (new gen. slim) I would like to play my roms with a real controller and thus, I tried to plug my PS3 controller with the firewire cable in my computer. Of course, it didn't work. I wouls like to know why and, if it is only a configuration problem, how to configure my emulator so that it will ''run'' a controller. Also I would like to know if I need a special device for it to work if there is need. Thanks.

If your goal is to use a PSOne or PS2 emulator just get a ps2 to usb adapter. There are a lot of cheep ones out there. I make one myself that supports rumble and pressure buttons all with no drivers.

What OS do you have, if XP (or I think Vista) you can use libusb, search google for using libusb with ps3 sixaxis controller, or if you have windows 7 a good free program to run controller is motioninjoy, but it is a pain to set up, and a bit weird(made by a very small group of japanese programmers) but you cnamap it controll anything, like your mouse, or work as a keyboard.

I use Logitech cordless PS2 controllers for PCSX2 and ePSXe with USB adapter. Works absolutely perfect. You have to have powered USB ports to run the cheap USB adapter however.
