sound issue with VisualBoyAdvance playing Mother 3

the sound while playing mother 3 keeps chopping up and slows down the game considerably. it gets better when i set the quality down to 11khz, but its still really annoying. Is there any way around this or do i have to play with no sound? oh and yes i am using the english translation patch.

i'm running it on OS X, so i'm going to guess my options are limited here.

It is only on one game that you have trouble with.

Sorry I only have Windows anyway at least you can play it :)
