Hi folks. I'm new here, and I have a bit of a problem trying to play my Final Fantasy IX (and VII, incidentally, though I care less about this) discs from the bin/cue images I made of them. The discs themselves play fine in the emulator. However, when I try to load the game up from the image file, I get the dreaded black screen, with identical video and sound settings to when it was playing fine.
Now, I've searched google for hours trying to find the answer to this problem. My discs are from the U.S. and shouldn't need to be patched, from what I've read, but I've tried patching all the same. Didn't seem to work, but I may have been doing it wrong - I tried both the renaming method where you put the files in the patches folder, and the method using the P.E.Op.S CDR Driver plugin. Perhaps I'm renaming them wrong? I wasn't sure if I was supposed to change the ppf extension to the .51 extension or not.
I've tried mounting the image using Magic Disc and Daemon Tools, but Magic Disc just fails and Daemon Tools actually freezes my computer when it tried to mount either of the image files in question.
I made an image file of a different game I own (Legend of Mana) and it worked just fine and dandy, both directly running the image file AND from mounting it using Daemon.
At this point I'm just at a loss. Could my image files just be bad? I used MagicISO to create them, and like I said, it created at least one file just fine (the Legend of Mana image). Should I try a different program?
Here are the specs for my emulator:
eSPXe 1.7.0
Video: Pete's DX6 D3D
Sound: eSPXe core SPU
CDROM: P.E.Op.S CDR Driver
I'm running this on Windows Vista.
Please let me know if you need more information about my system. I hate bugging others but I really can't find the answer on my own :(
