When I start emulating a game on Mame32 Plus! Plus! 0.117(or 0.119) it starts out running very smoothly without any frame skipping. About 3-4 mins into playing the game it starts skipping a lot of frames. If I turn frame skipping off it does the same thing, only it starts running very very slow instead of skipping frames. Any idea why it does this?

Games - Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 rev 2.1 (1995 old)
also does this with Street fighter III & Killer Instinct 1 & 2.

Is there a possibility you've got another program starting up in the background whilst you're playing? A virus scan or windows update possibly?

have you actually had these running ok at all and are your pc spec's high/good enough to emulate these games?

KI is a graphic intensive game to run

just a thought

Well I closed every program besides MAME and it still does it. What's wierd is that it starts out running perfectly then slowly begins to get more and more laggy the longer I play. And yes, I was able to run these games perfectly not too long ago. I recently started having this problem. As far as the game needing high specs to play, that's not the case at all. I just tested MK 2 and it also has this problem.

Another thing I wanted to add - I've gotten a lot of viruses and had to do a lot of system recoveries (like around 10).

OK so something has changed on your PC

Try the usual stuff

uninstall/reinstall graphics drivers
cleanup all temp folders etc
reinstall sound drivers

and if that doesn't work reinstall windows....

oh and get a free virus checker....AVG or Avira

If you're using a fixed res display like an LCD panel, it sounds like a sync issue with the video and sound. After playing for a bit the video and sound will get throttled to bring them back in sync with each other causing stuttering and lag. Basically the video is running at your monitor refresh which will be slower or faster than the original output, the sound will be running at its original speed and after a time they go out of sync. Mortal Kombat in particular is known for this as it used an odd freq monitor (something like 53Hz).

Try using triple buffering and turn off V-Sync if its enabled.

I tried triple buffering it but it didn't seem to work. Another thing I did was test the game on a different version of Mame which was Mame32k. I left the game running for 30 mins and it ran perfectly the entire time. So I'm guessing my options just may not be set right. However the options in Mame 0.117 are totally different than the options in Mame32k.

Also can someone tell me a version of Mame that might work better because Mame32k doesn't support SF III and some of the other games I like playing.

Mame Plus Plus is an unofficial 'optimised' version so there will be differences in them. Perhaps its something to do with the video options in Mame Plus Plus causing your issue as afaik it uses hardware on your PC that core builds of Mame and Mame32 don't.
