Pokemon FireRed ROM won't work on my VBA

I downloaded Pokemon FireRed.gba from 2 sources and for some reason, neither file will play on my Visual Boy Advance. I was wondering if it was unsupported or I need to configure the emulator's settings.

Try patching it with a fix that is included on the .zip package of the rom.
