I was googling for reviews on ipods to learn about them when i stumbled onto this website:
http://www.FreeiPods.com (http://www.freeiPods.com/)
I shall leave the link, but the referrer code is removed -- GHDpro
At first I thought it was a hoax, but I checked Cnn.com and wired.com and it's for real.
what sucks is youve gotta sign up for one of their offers, but I signed up for the free trial of Ancestry.com, and canceled it the next day, and it counted!
So I didn't have to pay anything, and I'm gonna get a sweet new ipod!!!
Awesome!!

I bet it's a scam. I don't trust free sites.

According to our socialist leader Lefteris, because "not everyone" can get one, and despite the fact people DO get free Ipods from it; its still a scam and he will not allow such links on our lovely community.

it really is free and this really isnt a scam
we just dont want people signing up to the forum and flooding the place with their referral links (you need to have like 5 referrals in order to get your ipod or something like that)

I think Lefty closed one because he thought it was a scam and onewecallgod closed one because it was a bit of a "spamish" post. Personally I think it's spam regaurdless of whether it's a rip off or not. Since we have a few members who seem to want to keep a thread about this deal open I won't close this one, but if we get a flood of "free offer" threads we'll have to close them to keep things tidy.

Ok, let's keep it for a while but as you and Onewecallgod said in the first sign of spam it's gone.
See? hitmonlee got the free ipod!!! ;)

I don't usually do these things but I decided to check it out.
So I sign up using the link above which, of course, is a referral link.
As I check out these "free trial offers" I find that most are not completely free. Also from what I understand you cannot cancel right away. For example:
Blockbuster Video--->"To receive credit you must register, select movies and remain an active member during the 2 week trial. Upon completion of the 2 week trial, you will receive credit"
USA Today---> "Order any subscription to the USA TODAY! You will receive credit within 2-3 days. "
And you also have to have 5 friends actually sign up for the offer. This is the notice I get when I check the status page:
||Referral Status:
You have not completed your requirements.
Click here to refer five (5) friends to be eligible to receive your free iPod.*
* Your referrals must sign up and complete one offer. ||
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, only that it's not as simple as it may sound.

Now in the old days this thread would be gone in a sec, and so would be the user (banned)...
Guess times have changed. BUT... the referral link is gone. I won't help him succeed in this scam.

The thread remains open as a "trial" basis. If people start using it for spamming purposes it will be gone.

If you try to scam them with multiple emails, they usually find out.

And then complete five offers with all five accounts?
Even the ancestory.com--I am not signing up for anything that needs credit card information for a free trial.

You can use mine if you want. PM or e-mail me if you're still interested.Shipping it back to Australia shouldn't be more than 10-15 dollars.

Did anybody actually get one? What I mean is, do you have it in your hands and didn't have to pay a penny for it?

Nobody seems to realise that to get a "free" iPod you have to do more work than it would take to earn the equivalent amount of cash.
onewecallgod

you pay with time spent, not money spent
Jet Set Willy

Which could be time spent making more money than it would cost to buy an iPod.

By work you mean filling out a few surveys, right? I've never actually tried one of those things...

Honestly, you're just doing their grunt work. You think you can get an iPod by doing less work than it's worth?

Yeh. It's a load of bollox. Just get out there and work for the cash to buy it.
