View Full Version : What is the difference between the current Wi-Fi standards
What is the difference between the current Wi-Fi standards 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11a and 802.11n?
Also how do I know what my router will work with.

Your router's box or manual will say.
802.11a is unused for the most part, b is old, g is the norm and n is quick.

My router will run WiFi (802.11b, 11Mbps. 802.11g, 54Mbps).
Can I still get N and use it like G ?

Yes, all N routers have backwards compatibility with G and some even B.
