Trackball Stops Working

I have a MAME machine and the trackball stops working all the time. If im playing a game without the trackball when I go back to the main menu the trackball doesnt work. Also while playing a trackball game sometimes it just stops working. I have to unplug it from the USB port then plug it back in.

Any help would be appreciated.

What interface does the trackball connect to the PC by? (Opti-Pac, Direct USB hack etc).

Are any other pointing devices connected to the PC?.

Is it connected via a USB hub?.

First thing to try is using it in a different USB port directly into the PC and not via a hub. It sounds like another USB device is stealing focus from your Trackball, either that or your Trackball interface device could be faulty or set up incorrectly.

Its a Happ tackball going into an Opti-pac, then plugs into USB port. Also if I unplug the USB port then plug it back in it usually resets. I am going to try plugging it into a different USB port.
