I had first come to ask why no games would start up, but I fixed that. I now ask 3 questions:
1. I have the ISO for Castlevania as a .cue file and a .bin file. Do I need both?
2. I heard you must have and older version of ePSXe to play Chrono Cross. I am fine with that. my question is, Can you use the same folders and files for both versions?
3. I use a windowed emulation. whenever I close the game, the music keeps playing and I must end the process with task manager. Is there anyway to prevent this from happening?
Thank you in advance.

I can only answer for 2: all plugins and bios can be used with any emulations and any versions. Atleast for what I've experienced.

1. - Yes you do, the bin file is all of the data from the CD, the cue file determines how that data is ordered.
2. - When upgrading to a newer version of the same emulator you can usually leave all your other folders alone and just import the new emulator.exe to your emulator folder.
3. - You have click on File > Exit from the ePSXe toolbar to close it. Pressing escape will simply close the emulator window leaving the process running in the background.

A new question. I tried configuring Dualshock but am unable to map any of the stick directions. do I need an external stick?

You need a stick with analogue joysticks to map the Dual Shock sticks to. You can pick up Dual Shocks very cheaply nowadays and use them with the PC using a converter which normally costs less than ?10/$10. The converters can be bought from most online places that sell game peripherals and stuff.

Actually, I don't need to spend any money at all. My brother used a Sixaxis along with Sixaxis drivers to play on ePSXe, which is what I plan on doing.
