How do i save a .gbc file on vba?

just downloaded vba and a pokemon silver rom that's a .gbc file. how do i go about saving my game and opening the saved file?

i figured it out right after i posted the question :/ but now when i try to open the .gbc file, the screen on vba is just white and nothing happens. and when i try to load my saved game file, it says "unsupported vba save version 10". any ideas?
