I just purchased a PSX+N64 USB Converter from EBAY from this link:
http://http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150316231625&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&viewitem=&salenotsupported
However, I have no idea of how to install in my computer after inserting the CD. Can anyone help me out?

did it look like this?

I'm guessing it did, if so its a HID ( human interface devise ) it requires no drivers. Plug it in and your HID device should show up, look in device manager ) Windows.. If you have a mac, same applies expect the device manager.

Do you mean in the front of the computer? This is where I put my flash drive in. Well, either way, nothing is happening. What now?

nothing is happening - If anything happens its only once. Go to control panel and then in to game controllers. Once open you should see a generic device in there. Double click on that and see if the controller works. Calibrate it!!
For the most part. This device is only going to fit in one spot, yes somtimes its in the front of the computer. For testing usb's its a good idea to try another port. Look in the back and see if that works.

Ok, I checked out the Game Controllers after I insert the PSX+N64 USB Converter and it's called "4 axis 16 button joystick". I calibrate it like you say and still nothing has changed. I'm still stuck so what do I do now?

IF you need help setting up your emulator with the gamepad then state the emulator.

Did you pick a plug in? Did you select the "4 axis 16 button joystick" in the list above, did you assign buttons?

I didn't see the "4 axis 16 button joystick" because it wasn't there. Am I suppose to download it from the CD?

If you are suing the plugins correctly its show a mapping of whats in your system. Since you already saw it in widows, it should be available. What input plugin are you using? Have your tried others?

Well I try it in every USB/plug in and when I check to see in "Computer" if it's plugged in, it's not there. It's on, it's plugged in, so what gives?

You dont need to try another port? You said its working in the control panel so stop messing with the computer. Its the emulator you need to be concern with. Do you know what a plug-in is? Go to the plugin set up and configure your controller?
find settings

If I get through this without a mild concussion I'll be surprised..
Ok first off the image is for reference. Not asking for Trenchant effort here .. just some simple common sense.. Now let us examine the image.. "Keyboard num8" - Does this sound like a joystick button to you.. If you guessed "no" then your one step ahead of me. if yes then I give up..
Ok since the keyboard is not what we want, let us get buttons in there shall we? So click the "UP" button ... now press the up button on the controller. Did it put something in there? If yes, do the rest. if no let me know.

Ok, I see what I have to do now. However, when I try to set the controls up with my N64 controller, I get something called "Gamepad: Button 00". When I try to set up the rest of the controls, I get the same thing. What now?

Remember up is not analog up, its button up. There are other controls for analogs. also since you re did the usb so many times, re calibrate it. You should get a new buton id for each button.

I unassigned all the controls and when I try to assign the buttons, nothing happens and they stay unassigned. I already calibrate before that but if nothing is happening, what now?

make sure your device is set under the devices tab.

I went to Devices and switched it over to 4 axis 16 button joystick. Now I went back to Controls to fix the controls. However, when I try to set them up, no matter which one I choose they always say "GamePad: Z-Axis -". What next?
ulaoulao

The only way I know of to fix that is to calibrate more carefully. Alternatively you can hold done the button you want, then click the button in the plugin and it should pop in there.

Well I had trouble calibrate the N64 control in the first place. Do you recall of how you did it correctly so maybe I can do it too.

just make sure you read the instructions and do what it says. If it says hold it still, do so. if it says make complete circles do that, but slow and get the full range.

When I try to calibrate, it goes through the process so quickly that I don't have time to press a button or make a complete circle.

Look at test screen, where you see the red buttons, are the buttons going crazy? Every thing should be still..
Looks similar to this, this is just a sample. yours will look different.

Sorry to trouble you again but I have a problem again and it might have something with the controller. When I try to play Paper Mario, it skips the prologue of the game and skips to the main title. Then before I can press the Start button, I'm taken to the list of files to choose from by then project64 1.6 shuts down. Any suggestions?

That adapter is know for this. Open up the controller panel again and watch the buttons for a bit on that screen. All red buttons should stay dark, if you see them color bright red they are being pressed. You can test press them to see how a button being pressed looks. Again they should not get pressed on there own.

Well I decided to use a XBox 360 wireless controller for my laptop instead. Will that work better?
ulaoulao
May 11th, 2009, 03:54
Better? I think only you can answer that..
I have not used that controller/driver. So I dont know how well it works. But if the shoe fits????
If you have any specific question ask.

Ok, I finally got the controller and the wireless plug. Now I calibrate it and set it up and it works perfectly. However, when I checked the game pads in the devices, it doesn't appear on the list. Is there something wrong? Please let me know because this controller works more perfectly than the N64 controller did.
