Hello.

I have about 150 PSX games that I collected over the years. I am finally looking into getting a good PSX emulator. What I wanted to ask is this...

Does anyone know of any sites that offer rom copying as a service? I don't know how, nor do I have time to rip all of my PSX games. I'm hoping there might be a site out there that offers a service of copying the isos or roms to DVDs and then mailing them to you. I know there are similar sites for MAME such as ******. If anyone is aware of a similar site for PSX games, please let me know.

Oh, I'd also be interested in SEGA Dreamcast games. I have most of the games released for the system in the USA. I'd love to have isos of those games to play on my PC Dreamcast emulator.

Thanks
John

I haven't heard of any service like that, however I'd do it if your asking price was worth my time. You'll also need to consider that it would take maybe 10-15 DVD-DLs and 20-30 normal DVDs.

I don't think he's talking about sending them off and having someone burning his games for him, but just for a rom burner he can order the games from....which breaches the AUP, as does the reference to the mame burning service in his post.

Sites like the one you mentioned are breaking the law.. Simply being in posession of original hardware does not entitle you to acquire a software copy/dump/etc.. The only form of legal backups are those made by yourself, on your own (legalized) hardware.

As for ripping your games.. You have the original CD's so I doubt a 1:1 copy is really that important to you.. You don't need to do a bunch of difficult steps to produce a bit for bit accurate image.. Emulators don't check game discs for copy protection, so as long as the files are there it won't matter.

You can rip your PSX games with several easy to user programs.. CloneCD/DVD. Alcohol 120%, hell I bet even Nero will produce usable images..

CloneCD and Alcohol 120% are so easy to use.. Pop your disc into the drive, select the mode to rip it to an ISO or BIN/CUE set, and off you go. Rinse and repeat. If you really don't have the time, then just pay a buddy you trust not to steal your CD's to sit there and rip them for you. As long as you have a couple hundred Gigabytes of hard drive space, you can dump your whole collection. Hell it's easier to just buy a boot disc if you have the actual consoles anyway, so might as well do that.
