keyboard not being detected

Hi all,

Ive been trying to play with The gens, and Kega emulators, but neither of them seem to detect my keyboard, I try to go the the define the keys option but whenever i click on them, it puts a question mark where the keys are suppose to be.

Does anyone know a solution?
