how do you trade pokemon between games, and so im not misunderstood i mean for the rom, not the actual game

Well, Which version of pokemon are you playing? It kinda depends, you are able to do it with games like Pokemon Red, and Pokemon Crystal, But not with the newer games such as Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Diamond.

Wow sure has been awhile since I posted here. I know the trading restrictions. I meant from say RED to BLUE or GOLD to SILVER. Also before further questions are asked I'm using the Visual Boy Advance emulator.

Well Well, Its been a while. You need to use the gameboy color emulator called

well VBA link, you can get the latest version off their website, supports GBA and GBC and you can link to trade, it's what i like to use.
