View Full Version : Emulator Problem: Genesis emulation+Realtek HD Mic boost=HORRIBLE sound, what to do?

OK, so Realtek Hd soundcard has it's own mic boost (way buried, btw) but for some unknown reason it screws up sound from genesis emulators, both Gens and Fusion. Regardless of sound settings. Disabling channels in GENS does not isolate the problem. Tested mainly on Sonic games. Doesn't happen with anything else OTHER than Genesis emulators.
I know I can just turn off the mic boost again, but it's a real pain to switch back and forth, and worse, I can't record Genesis games on a good volume then (default volume=way too soft)
All sounds seem sharper, lower, hugely distorted, and just plain terrible.
Can I do anything about it?:(

Nevermind, GENS Plus and KEGA indeed do horrible sound, but Gens10a (the rerecording version) for some reason can cope with Realtek.
The "bug" is still there, but isn't really an issue now.

If you are recording games just use a desktop video recorder type program.. FRAPs, all the others out there.

I can't imagine anything you record through a PC Mic is going to sound too good anyway. You can always try updating your drivers. I ran my Realtek 889A chipset for a year or more before putting my X-fi back in for other reasons. Never had problems that I could tell.
