extreme lag in Chrono Cross

ok, i gave up trying to solve the problem with the status menu, but now i have another problem. in some places like the deck of the s.s. Invinsible, or some other ones, im getting EXTREME lag, i mean, less than 1 fps.
im absolutelly sure that is not grafic card problems, mine eats the entire psx....

515 RAM DDR PC2100
MSI Radeon 9800 Pro @ XT

i remember it lagging, but not down to 1fps. more like 5 fps, so i played it anyways
