I've downloaded the n64 emulator, project 64 and I've been trying to play roms on it like pokemon stadium and banjo kazooie but I don't know how to do that because I try to double click on the rom after I've downloaded but a window always pops up telling me to select a program to open it with and I select project 64 and then it says that it fails to open it. I also downloaded winrar and tried to use that to unzip the files but it doesn't seem to be getting me anyway either because it still won't go to the emulator and play. Do I have to download something else before the roms will play in the emulator or am i just doing something wrong? I always it was easy to use emulators and roms, I thought you just download an emulator then download a rom and it would just play but I guess not. Please help me.

Too many think like you, that's just to download and then it will work. Almost like when you buy a system plug it in the game ust starts. Well, I might as well tell you now - forget it. You have to configure the emulators to work on your particular system. When it comes to old systems like NES or Master System the configuring parts are rare, but on later systems ther is quite a lot of tuning of the emulator that needs to be done.

Now, regarding PJ64 you need to first unrar it. Then go to the unrared folder and start PJ64. There, you have to go into the Options menu and configure the graphics, audio, controller and RSP plugins.
Then go to settings and click Directories. Now, where it says Rom Directory you should put the path to your roms.

After that the roms should show up in your PJ64 window. Just doubleclick on the game and it should run if you configured the plugins correctly!

Good luck!

I've done the unrar of pj64, I don't know exactly how to do the config of the plugins because the roms still won't open in the emulator and run like they are supposed to.

Here's a video on how to set it up, because it's obvious you're to lazy to read the million and 1 threads on different forums about how to set it up.

But one can wonder why people almost never read the instructions that comes with programs. For PJ64 there's a user manual which has chapters called "Installation" and "Configuration". Now, if someone didn't understand specific things in the manual I for one would be more understanding.

But hey, any question is valid here I think. Just wish people would read more though.

i agree, but saying it like you say it now is more effective and polite.
