hey, im new to this forum, but i have a question im hoping u guys can answer. i just bought a new laptop for cheap, here's the specs:
-Intel Pentium Dual-Core @ 1.86 Ghz
-2GB RAM
-Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100

now the requirements for PJ64 are as follows
-600 Mhz
-128MB RAM
-decent graphics card

Even though i meet the requirements, PJ64 still runs kinda slow :(. now, i know that im far ahead in at least 2 of the 3 requirements, but is it the Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 that's holding me down?

Probably, intel integrated graphics are good for absolutely nothing other than displaying windows and browsing the web.

Try lowering resolution as low as 640x480.

Try lowering resolution as low as 640x480.

ive tried this before as one of the first ways to increase speed, but to no avail :( im still running at 15-30 fps, and for some reason, Super Smash Bros runs really slow now (around 8 fps)

i used to have a beater comp, an eMachine eMonster tower from 1998 running windows 98, 550mhz pentium 3 cpu, nVidia TNT2 8MB graphics card, and 256MB of RAM, and it still ran Super Smash Bros faster than my new laptop (it ran Super Smash Bros's actual gameplay at 45-55 fps, actually playable) :(

lets just say im not a happy person

Again, integrated graphics are nasty tricksy things.....

But seriously. I know you can't even begin to compare those integrated cards with "real" graphic cards but look at the specs of his old computer. He claims to have run Super Smash Bros on an inferior machine with 8Mb graphics card!!

It's highly unlikely that that old configuration is better than the laptop. And besides; if the Intel integrated can run F.E.A.R.with up to 75fps at 640x480...

painface87, I recommend you try to change the settings for your Graphic plugin. Or just try another plugin altogether since it may not be the best for your graphics card. Also, check that you have the latest DirectX installed (and of course the latest drivers for your card).

My personal opinion is.... Its the laptop. Stick with a desktop. Laptops always seem to run games alot slower than normal which tics me off.

not true. i've got a laptop, done pj64 on a laptop, and many other emu things. however i must agree that a laptop ofcourse is less powerful than a desktop.
so oftenly you do gotta turn the graphics down. but of course i think my graphics card is better then his but it proberly still sucks:

intel core 2 duo proccesor t5500 1.66ghz {his is better right?}

inter graphics media accelerator 950

ddr = ram right? then it would be 1GB ddr2

That's because people rarely have a laptop that's more powerful than their desktop computer. Of course it runs slower then...

Well its either the laptop or Vista, I always have trouble with games on Vista as well. Xp works alot better for games.
