a friend gave me a snes game killer instinct i down loaded the emulator from this site but the game will only play using the keyboard not a usb game controller why? can anyone help an old gamer from the 80"s

if you are using zsnes, i, don't think it usb compatble, actualy, it is

You must configure the USB controller first. Then use some library like brutter, directx or rumble to work it in zsnes.

wait i jus remeberd somthin i used zsnes and configured a wingman usb to it
and it worked

the usb device was already configured is there any walk through steps to use direct x to work it in. is there any web sites to go to solve this problem .

Anyway. Are you sure you configured the USB device ?
Did ZSNES have you press an input for each button ?

dude its simple if i rember correctly you go to the options where you config the pad
there should be a box where you pick which pad you wanna use then
example there will be a box and it says A in it click on the box then press A on your controller then the button will change to pov_A or somthin like that cuz thats what happend to me so you can figure out the rest from here
