I'm new to emulators

I have the emulator and the ROM all downloaded, and it runs fine. But there are no controls.

The game runs through fine, credt and character and intro screens and all. But I cant click to start or press anything that'll let me play.

Please help?

or do I need a special controller to use to play? i cant use my keyboard?

I will need more information to help you out. What emulator are you using?

All you really need is a standard joypad that can be purchased at Bestbuy,Fries and Electronics and etc. The good thing is you don't have to buy a big expensive controller either. I got a controller for $10.00 and it has held up for a year.

Emulators default to keyboard keys since the beginning of time..

Have you tried looking around in the options menus for controller setup options? Also keyboard controls can vary wildly from one emulator to the next, and are often odd setups.

You could try hitting keys one by one if it comes down to it.. but you should find key definitions in the options menu or at least in a readme/FAQ file distributed with the emulator..

You can even try googling the emulator name and search terms.. like "ZSNES keyboard controls" etc..
