Hanging problems with EPSXE 1.70

So, I've been playing games with EPSX 1.70, and it runs just about perfectly. The problem is, every once in a while, it'll just freeze for about 10 seconds and then unfreeze. I noticed it happens a little less in full-screen mode then windowed mode, but does anyone know how to fix it?

iv also noticed this with 1.70 have no idea why only seems to effect a ceartain games so i switch back to 1.6. its anoying.

It still seems to have the same problem with 1.6. Does anyone know what's causing this, exactly?
