How to edit/reprogram downloaded games

There are some games made for the SNES that are only one player, and my brother and I wish to change that. Anyone know of a program which would allow us to open and edit snes roms? The game we wish to edit specifically is Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen so that it would have a multiplayer setting.

Forget it. Without the source code, and probably even some kind of dev station, and unless you know Assembly for the SNES's CPU. That's not gonna happen. You're talking about changing the fundamental core functions of a game.

If there actually is a way to do this, I would be anything it would be a painfully slow, and extremely hard experience
