Final Fantasy ix: Can't fight Desert Palace boss!

I have gotten to the last part of Desert Palace and I walk up to the candle where you are supposed to fight the boss, but I cannot light the candle. There is no ! bubble or anything! I've checked many walkthroughs and forums, but I still can't find any information. Doesn't anyone know what's wrong? Please help if you do and thanks!

I ran into the same problem as you but its not a game problem.
Most likely you didn't light all the candles. Thats what happened to me.

You might have missed the candle in the room before you enter the library. Also make sure all the candles in the library are lit.
Check all the rooms that opened up from lighting the candles in the library.

Oh my GOD! I want to just SLAP myself! In fact... *SLAP* Man... Well I really appreciate your advice... I should have known it was the candles. DUH! It turns out that I missed path behind the middle floor of the library. Well at least my characters are about 10 levels above what they should be! Now, on to fight the boss! Thanks!
