I have had yellow dog linux 6 on my system for a couple of weeks now messing with it on and off. I feel as though I have made some progress worth sharing. I got a number of old game systems running though it.

see for your self;
Playstation 3 running SNES killer Instinct with the dualshock 3 over bluetooth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNhH7hLnYbo)
Playstation 3 running Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, TG-16, Nintendo fullscreen full speed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqP_NXN3-ak)
Playstation 3 running MAME (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q24AXU0o3I8)
Playstation 3 running Gameboy Advance, Gameboy, Neo-Geo, Sega Master System, and Gamegear (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VO5Oukbq1Qk)

kinda neat, no?

I came very close to banning you, despite the fact you will likely never be back.. Hell you'll probably never read this either... So I guess this is more for the benefit of everyone else who might consider this kind of behavior in the future / on other forums..

There is no reason to sign up and spam PS3 emulation in all your posts, making ONLY those kinds of posts..

One thread in the Sony forums or even a general emulation topic is more than enough, and people don't appreciate it, especially when the people doing the spamming show no signs of an attempt to actually become part of the active posting community.

This thread can stay, but the others are going to be merged here and the thread moved to the Sony forum.. Not only that, but its just a bunch of youtube videos, which doesn't prove much.. No mention of the process.. What terms to google for so others can find the program? A guide to getting it all setup and running? No mention of the actual emulators used, or where they can be found (or simply the emulator names if they can only be found on a site distributing illegal copyrighted materials)..

There is no useful information presented.. Just a spammer saying "look at me".. We do not want or encourage this kind of behavior, and we doubt other emulation forums will feel much differently. Yes you do appear to have a guide in your youtube linked Videos but that just drives the traffic to youtube, and shows a lack of courtesy to the readers who may not even care enough to watch the videos (or not care to because they have no fast internet).

If you want to stay and be a part of the community, helping others out with PS3 emulation and other stuff you may know about, then that is great and all will be forgiven in time as you establish yourself.. But just spamming your videos on forums is in poor taste and most people hate it.. You end up having the opposite effect, people hate you instead of wanting to talk to you.

Guess I got off on the wrong foot, my apologies. I have been into emulation since the late 90's its a great way to relive the great games from my childhood. I have had a notable interest in being able to run such emulators through my regular TV set for some time. I feel that it makes it a bit more authentic and is more conducive to a little multiplayer. I scrounged the internet and various forums to get the information necessary to set up my ps3 with a number of emulators that interested me. I even compiled a reference guide to help others attain the same with out the run around. I posted the specific videos in threads I thought pertinent to what was being emulated (e.g. Mame in the arcade thread, super nintendo in the nintendo thread). If people showed interest or had questions I would be happy to elaborate and educate. Anyways thanks for posting the reference guide. If there are questions still feel free to ask them I will try to answer them.

Regards

@RockmanForte: if you can get the rom to run on snes9x for the PC it should work in the linux derivative.

EDIT: I cleaned up the prior posts since they are all located in one thread now. I consolidated them into one post. feel free to delete the /\ boxes.

E-faust, sometimes the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

You have come back and explained yourself, so you are already on the right track. Just be sure and read our forum rules so you know what the deal is and most folks will leave you alone. No big deal.

Rockman, see my other post above.. I posted the link to his reference guide on setting up emulation on the PS3. You'll have to read his guide very carefully to find out exactly what to do.. I expect it will be a somewhat involved process, but he says he will be here to help any questions about problems you have along the way.

If you want to actually see it in action, check the first post in this thread. It has the links to his youtube videos.

Wow, I thought emulation just didn't work on the PS3. After seeing some dumb guy try to install Linux and he didn't even know how to get ne thing running that actually was runnable on Linux lol. Cool i will look into this.
