Mamext dat files

Hi,
Ive got the MAME extended plus from http://www.mamext.net/ in the hope I can get a version that saves my highscores.
It also gives a download link to a .dat file which I've read lets me keep do this, however it does not say where to put the file. Any help?

Not sure if MAMEXT does that... you should try MAME32FX, it certainly has hiscore support.
