Day of the tetacle

im trying to play day of the tentacle but im not sure how to go about it...i know you have to run in windows 95/98 mode but i dont know how....im running windows vista

It could've worked with Dosbox, too, but I believe VMWare is better for some reason.
I played this game some months ago and loved the idea of controlling 3 characters in different times, but I got stuck very fast and gave up :o
