Okay me and my friend want to transfer ""files"" from my computer to his computer over the internet. He lives like 400miles away. Basically 500-900mb files from my computer to his. Without like Rapidshare/Megaupload or torrents.

What would be the best way?

Direct connection, using a program that ideally allows you to resume downloads..

AOL Instant Messenger offers resume support I think. mIRC client I think also allows resume support, so you could DCC him thru IRC if you wanted too.

Torrents (trackerless) are a good choice. The bad thing is that sometimes it slows down.

or Hamachi as Virutal Private Network (VPN)
so you could simply share folders and files (like being wired through lan) \\just share a folder and you're done!

other options are

setup Apache http server, or Filezilla FTP server both should have download resume and multi-connections so he can juice up your Connection to get the best download speed.
