View Full Version : Do PS2 emu's work well, and how can I achieve auto controller + tape effect in pSX?

1. I'm wondering if the PS2 emulators actually work. I tried Dolphin for the gamecube, and it was pretty widely known that the game I was trying to play, and many others had extremely low FPS and were basically unplayable. I'm wondering if this is the case with the PS2 emulators right now?

2. I need to have a repeating button press in FF9 (after Steiner and MArcus escape the trap in Disc 2) but have only figured out 2 ways, one is a macro in MacroExpress, which for some reason works extremely fast repeating the text version of the key in text windows, but very slowly in the game (changing delay time didn't fix it, so I guess 1 milisecond isn't too fast for the game, it's too slow?) and the other is getting a ps1/2 controller to usb adaptor, and using my automatic controller with tape, but that will take a few days to arrive so I was hoping for some way to do it with software. Anyone figured it out?

It's a matter of optimization. PS2 and GameCube emulators are not being released periodically as NO$GBA, which is being released every month.

So that's a no to the ps2 emu actually working?

Its relatively playable on the right hardware but still a fairly long way from 100%. It remains far more developed than the GC or X-Box emulators however. Another few years should see hardware and OS's better suited to allowing proper emulation of these systems.

How many FPS you think I'll gt with my set up?

That depends on the game. In some games you get up to 30 FPS. In other games you won't get past 4 FPS.

Highly recommend: Buy PS2 and premod.

Is premod a name, or are you just telling me to mod the ps2?

I have one, and a bunch of games, don't think I'll be buying anything else (unless it's for my FF collection), but I have been wanting to try out Mr. Mosquito, I figure it's old enough for me to be able to run it okay.

Mod your PS2.

How much does that cost?

Is there any way to just flash the drive, like the 360?
