I've looked through tons of threads, and nothing is helping me out.

I need some explaination on how this game works, I've heard people say you need to play the GB games first or something?

And, the save files and gb files I don't understand either...

It's basically a pokemen in 3d, otherwise it's nothing over the usual. You choose your pokemon, you go fighting etc.etc. Although, it's not like the original because there's no "overworld map" and so on :) You have to see to understand.

Um, I seem to be having trouble with it though...

I have them all set and stuff, but they still aren't working...
I'm not sure what to do, and I'm not sure if the transfer pack has something to do with it or not..

I'm currently trying to play it without the transfer pack..

No, you must play it with the transfer pack. It is just like real nintendo 64.. without transfer pack and this game will not run at all either. :)
