Widescreen ROMS

I was wondering if anybody here was able to change thier resolution to play Roms in thier original size, and if so how?

Sorry for the wording, I am not really sure how to say it.

Widescreen is an emulator or video plugin feature, if we are talking about 3D systems such as PlayStation, Nintendo 64 and others.
