Dont know if any of you out there know about this, I'm sure some do. But it looks as though Linux (BSD) is running on the cube. And another guy got it booted on the WII. GClinux supports SDL a development library for linux (3d). There is a game engine called K3dEngine for linux to make OpenGL games. I may try this out and see if I can write a few games for the GC/WII.
