Atari Joysticks for PC

Can anyone help me out? I just started using Stella Atari emulator and an NES emulator and I'd love to use my old controllers on my PC. Is ther ea cheep and easy way to do this? I'd rather not pay $30 for a Stelladapter.

You could build one if you're capable with electronics.
