Unable to calibrate N64 Controller, Spasming all over the place!

I bought an N64 controller to plug into my Psx + N64 USB converter, When I went to calibrate it in the control panel it....calibrated it-self in about 4 seconds, and the button display flashes all over the place like buttons are rapidly being pressed

Why on earth's this?

Is it fixable? or a way around , so I can play on an n64 emulator?

This is a know common problem with those adapters. There is a hard fix and an easy fix. The hard fix involves scolding components on the adapter.

the easy fix is to get another n64 CONTROLLER! not the adapter..



Why you ask, simple..

The adapter was built with 5 volts in mind. it puts out 4.6 or so. the joysticks requires 3.4. Its way to high. The new n64 controllers have a regulator of sorts. or are simply designed to handle the higher voltage. Other wise you get random button pushing.

So in short you need to either

a) trade that n64 controller in for another.

b) find and buy an adaptiod (black pigtail looking thing)

c) build one your self ( i can help)

d) fix the one you have (pain in the butt)
