Character. KOF have a lot of character and every character have their own trademark move (Rugal Godpress) while other game have some clone character (Ryu, Ken, Dan, Akuma...).

Gameplay. KOF relies on technique (super moves) while Street Fighter on Combos. Its easier to mastering supermoves than combo IMO.

Update. Every year always have new KOF, new character and story update.

Arcade. Well, arcade owner only buy the game not with hardware because KOF from 94-03 never change hardware and that's make KOF more available than other game.

I don't know how you can compare KOF to games like SF on the pretense of "supermoves".. KOF relies just as much on combos and button mashing as any other game.

While there is more strategy involved in 3 on 3 fights, calling in a character to attack or block for you, etc.. They are all really the same in the end. Whoever can quickly and accurately pull off a combo of moves is going to win. Period.

I like KOF series mostly for the huge library of characters you have access to, and the music. Other fighting games just can't touch some of the music from KOF games. Plus most of the backgrounds are excellent looking also.

As shown here (http://www.gamesradar.com/us/pc/game/news/article.jsp?releaseId=2006032219817514003&articleId=200711239291393082&sectionId=1006&pageId=2007112394150531054), that not entirely true ;)
